Descripción del Tour:
This is a fascinating experience that will take us to one of the most iconic and surreal places in the Atacama Desert, about 13 kilometers west of San Pedro de Atacama. We will find this landscape that seems like something out of this world: El Valle de la Luna.
We will depart from your hotel at approximately 2:30 p.m. (schedule may change depending on the time of year and weather conditions). We will immerse ourselves in this lunar landscape that gives the place its name. The Valle de la Luna is characterized by its unique rock formations, sand and salt dunes, and an almost total absence of vegetation.
We will take a light hike through the Cordillera de la Sal where we will observe this spectacular geological phenomenon, composed of large deposits of salt, gypsum, and chalky earth. This mountain range offers a landscape rich in natural sculptures, mountains, and salt ridges eroded by wind and water over millions of years. Among this unique morphology, the best known are Las Tres Marías and El Anfiteatro.
The valley is part of the Los Flamencos National Reserve and is managed by the indigenous communities of Coyo, San Pedro, Quitor, Séquitor, Larache, and Yaye.
One of the most spectacular moments in the Valle de la Luna is the "sunset", the rock formations and The desert takes on golden and reddish tones at this time, creating a perfect landscape for photography and contemplation.
Here at the highest point of the Cordillera de la Sal, we will arrive at the Mirador de Kari or Piedra del Coyote. Along with this postcard backdrop, we will enjoy an exquisite cocktail, hoping to see one of the most beautiful and romantic sunsets in the world.
