Descripción del Tour:
Today, we embark on our journey bright and early from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, with our departure scheduled between 4:30 and 5:00 am, depending on the season.
Our adventure begins with a drive towards the Tatio Geysers, the world's highest geothermal field, situated at an elevation of 4,200 meters above sea level. This remarkable site boasts around 80 active geysers.
We will reach the El Tatio Geysers at dawn, the perfect time to witness the dramatic columns of steam and hot water rising from the earth. Here, you will have the chance to explore the geysers, thermal pools, and other fascinating geothermal formations. It's truly awe-inspiring to observe the hot water shooting into the air like a fumarole amidst this otherworldly landscape.
During our visit, we'll savor a delicious hot breakfast while taking in the stunning view of the steam fumaroles, which can soar up to 10 meters high.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a dip in the natural hot springs of El Tatio. This unique experience allows you to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings while soaking in the thermal pool, which maintains an average temperature of 36°C.
Afterward, we'll head back to San Pedro de Atacama, with a stop in the quaint village of Machuca, home to just about 20 houses equipped with solar panels for energy. Here, you can indulge in local delicacies like llama meat skewers or goat cheese empanadas. A stroll down its solitary street will lead you to the village's historic church.
Following our visit to Machuca, we'll return to central San Pedro, where you'll be dropped off near the municipal parking lot. From there, you can explore the town further, grab lunch, or make your way back to your hotel. If you prefer, we can arrange for a private bus to drop you off at your hotel.
Remember to dress appropriately. Warm clothing is essential, as mornings at the geysers can be chilly due to the elevation. Don't forget your camera to capture the breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences. Adhering to the safety guidelines provided by your guide is crucial to ensuring a safe and respectful adventure.

A visit to the town of Machuca also offers a unique cultural experience regardless of the time of year.
The weather at the Tatio Geysers is quite cold, especially during the early morning hours, when temperatures can drop below zero. It's advisable to dress in layers to adapt your wardrobe to temperature fluctuations throughout the day. Bring thermal clothing, a hat, gloves, and a warm coat to cope with the morning chill. Once the sun rises, the temperature rises, and lighter layers will suffice. Don't forget comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen to protect your skin from the altitude and sun exposure.
Visiting the Tatio Geysers is generally safe if you follow the guide's instructions. It is essential to stay within marked areas and respect the safety barriers to avoid getting dangerously close to the vents, which reach high temperatures.
