The "O" trekking circuit is aptly named for the way its trails weave together to form the letter "O".

This experience invites you to discover some of the world's most spectacular landscapes, including the thrilling vistas of the Dickson Sector, the renowned Valle de Los Perros, the stunning Los Perros Glacier, and the remarkable John Garner Pass at an elevation of 1,200 meters. Here, you will marvel at views of the Grey Glacier and the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.

Continue along the route to reach the park’s most iconic viewpoints: Paine Grande, Valle Francés, and also visit the Británico viewpoint and the Glaciar del Francés.

Trekking in Torres del Paine National Park generally spans between 7 and 8 days, depending on your pace, the number of stops you make, the difficulty of the terrain, and your personal interests. It's crucial to be ready for long-distance hiking, so ensure you have all the necessary gear and sufficient supplies for this adventure in a wild and pristine environment.

Tour Description

Embark on this thrilling adventure starting from the nearest city to the park: Puerto Natales. Before your journey begins, ensure you collect your Welcome Kit from the office at Manuel Bulnes 83, Puerto Natales, between 5:00 and 6:00 PM, the day prior to your departure.

>Day 1: Arrival at Torres del Paine National Park – Trek to Serón

Meet your transfer at Las Torres who will escort you to the welcome center. Once registered at Cerro Paine Reserve, commence your trek to Serón Campsite.

While this is one of the park's more accessible trails, the path to Serón offers breathtaking views of the rugged side of Torres del Paine National Park. Walk through lush greenery, traverse a hillside, and wander across a grassland on the Patagonian plains. Following this mostly level trail, you'll encounter sparkling streams. Upon reaching Serón Campsite, settle in and take some time to soak in the expansive landscape before dinner is served in the intimate dining area at Serón.

Day 2: Trek to Dickson

Begin today with a lengthy trek through gentle hills and moist meadows deep within the park. Be captivated by snow-capped peaks, serene blue lakes, and vast grasslands as you explore the northern side of the park, with awe-inspiring views of Dickson Glacier, Cerro Cuba, and other rugged peaks along the Chile-Argentina border. Once at Dickson, check-in and take an afternoon stroll along Dickson Lake's rocky shore, prior to dinner at the refuge.

* Accommodation: Dickson Refuge (made-up bed) or campsite

>Day 3: Trek to Los Perros

Start your day with breakfast and then embark on a trek through the park's most remote areas, surrounded by vibrant vegetation. Feel the breeze rustling the bushes and hear the delightful calls of Magellanic woodpeckers. Following the Los Perros River, climb a vast moraine, where the stunning Los Perros Glacier and its turquoise lagoon will take your breath away. Continue on a rugged path to reach Los Perros Campsite, your overnight stop. Rest well after dinner; tomorrow promises to be a long day.

Day 4: Trek to Grey via the John Garner Pass

Prepare for the most challenging yet rewarding day of the Paine circuit. After an early breakfast and organizing your boxed lunch, navigate through twisted tree roots and muddy patches under the tree canopy. Leaving the forest, ascend over loose rocks to reach the circuit's highest point, the renowned John Garner Pass (1,200 m above sea level). Battling strong Patagonian winds, marvel at the Southern Patagonian Ice Field before descending alongside a colossal ice wall. Continue past the El Paso campsite and cross thrilling suspension bridges to arrive at Grey Hut for dinner and much-needed rest.

* Time: 10–12 hrs

* Difficulty level: Very demanding

* Accommodation: Grey Hut (bed frame) or camping

* Meals: Breakfast, boxed lunch, and dinner


Day 5: Trek to Paine Grande

After breakfast at Grey Refuge, be enchanted by more breathtaking views of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field and Grey Lake's icebergs (remember to order your boxed lunch!). Trek uphill through a mountain forest to the sometimes windy Grey Glacier viewpoint. Proceed to Los Patos Lagoon before descending via a narrow, breezy valley to reach Paine Grande Refuge.

>Optional: If time allows in the morning, you can kayak on Grey Lake with prior reservation and subject to availability.

* Time: 4 – 4.5 hrs

* Difficulty level: Medium

* Accommodation: Shelter (bed set up) or Paine Grande campsite

* Meals: Breakfast, box lunch, and dinner

Day 6: Explore the French Valley

Set off early for a full day of hiking in the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. After breakfast, order your boxed lunch and prepare for a day of stunning Patagonian mountain landscapes.

Trek through arid terrains and alongside the captivating blue waters of Lake Skottsberg. After about 2.5 hours, reach the Italiano Campsite, where the ascent into the valley begins. Climb over rocky terrain to reach the French Lookout, rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the Horns, glacial lagoons, and hanging glaciers cascading from Paine Grande (3,050 meters). If lucky, hear the roar of cascading water and ice, and witness avalanches. It’s an ideal spot for photos and enjoying your packed lunch. Return along the same path to the Italian Campsite, then proceed to French Domes or Los Cuernos Refuge. Unwind in the afternoon with a delightful dinner at your chosen refuge.

* Distance: 15 km (refuge – viewpoint – French Domes)/17 km (refuge – viewpoint – Los Cuernos Refuge)

* Time: Viewpoint – French Domes: 6-7 hrs/Viewpoint – Los Cuernos Refuge: 7-8 hrs

* Difficulty level: Demanding

* Accommodation: Refuge (bed) single bed) or Los Cuernos campsite/refuge (single bed) or French campsite (depending on availability)

* Meals: Breakfast, box lunch, and dinner


Day 7: Trek to Central Tower

Whether starting from Los Cuernos refuge or French Domes, traverse pristine streams while admiring Mount Admiral Nieto’s hanging glaciers (2,670 m) and search for condors as you follow the blue-green waters of Lake Nordenskjöld. Continue along the marked trail to the Central Tower refuge for afternoon relaxation. Remember to order your boxed lunch after breakfast.

* Distance: 14.5 km (from Refugio Francés) – 12 km (from Refugio Los Cuernos)

* Time: 4–6 hours (depending on the starting point)

* Difficulty level: Medium

* Accommodation: Refugio (single bed) or Torre Central campsite

* Meals: Breakfast, boxed lunch, and dinner


Day 8: Trek to Base Torres – Return to Puerto Natales

Today's journey begins in the Ascencio Valley amidst vast forests. On the final ascent, cross a vast field of boulders to reach the iconic Base Torres viewpoint. At 900 meters above sea level, take in the sight of the three granite towers (north, central, and south) and the turquoise glacial lake below. Capture these moments and enjoy your boxed lunch before descending the same trail to the Central Tower Refuge and Welcome Center.

At 7:00 PM, take the "Las Torres" transfer to Laguna Amarga, connecting with the 7:30 PM bus to Puerto Natales, arriving approximately at 9:15 PM.
