Our adventure begins today as we depart from our hotel at the prearranged time, heading towards Villarrica, located 26 km from Pucón. Our first stop is at the Museum of the Catholic University of Villarrica, showcasing a collection of handcrafted and pre-Hispanic instruments alongside a significant historical exhibition of the city.
Next, we will visit the Catholic Cathedral and the stunning waterfront on the western side of Lake Villarrica. A visit to a strategic viewpoint offers us an expansive view of the city and Lake Villarrica.
Our journey continues to the commercial center of the city. Villarrica is renowned for its wood, stone, and textile crafts, which we can admire at the Mercado Fritz Artisan Fair and local craft shops, where a traditional Ruka Mapuche (a straw house from this ancient indigenous culture) can be found.
Pucón, not only a primary city in Araucanía but also among the most beautiful, will be the next highlight of our tour. Enveloped by majestic mountains and graced by the crystal waters of Lake Villarrica, it is famed as Chile’s adventure destination, lying at the foot of the imposing Villarrica Volcano. We'll explore the renowned Playa Grande de Pucón, where the serene views of Villarrica Lake unfold. We’ll also venture to the La Poza sector, a historic beach where timber was once stockpiled for transport to Villarrica by steamships in the 1800s.
