Descripción del Tour

Discover Rapa Nui from a unique perspective on this guided horseback riding experience of medium difficulty, ideal for travelers seeking to connect with the island’s nature, history, and volcanic landscapes. The experience lasts approximately 3 hours and offers two route options, both available year-round and led by a certified local guide.

The first option is the Mount Maunga Terevaka Horseback Ride, which reaches the highest point on the island at 530 meters above sea level. The tour begins with a vehicle transfer to Fundo Vaitea, where the horseback ascent starts along gentle volcanic slopes. Upon reaching the summit, guests enjoy breathtaking 360° panoramic views, allowing them to appreciate the three corners of the island and the vast surrounding ocean. Along the route, you will also see the Rano Aroi volcano and its lagoon, surrounded by native flora. The descent continues toward the Ahu Akivi area, where the group is picked up for the return to Hanga Roa.

The second option is the Caverns Horseback Ride, a fascinating experience not suitable for people with claustrophobia. This route explores significant volcanic caves formed by ancient lava tubes, visiting Ana Kakenga, Ana Te Pora, and Ana Te Pahu. Ana Kakenga is known for its two underground tunnels opening onto a sea-facing cliff; Ana Te Pora stands out for its vast interior space; and Ana Te Pahu is notable for its size and historical importance, as it served as a refuge for the Rapa Nui people during the period of slavery. Inside the caves, visitors can observe remains of ancient kitchens, cultivation areas, and petroglyphs. The tour ends with a return to the starting stable, followed by transfer back to the hotel.

Both horseback rides include one horse per person, full safety riding equipment, flashlights (for the caverns route), and pick-up and drop-off from centrally located hotels. National Park entrance fees, food, and beverages are not included. Departure times are available in the morning or afternoon, subject to reconfirmation.
