After picking you up from your hotel, we begin the adventure at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. Founded in 1817 by King João VI of Portugal and declared a Cultural and Biological Heritage Site by UNESCO, this space houses a collection of flora from various parts of the world. There, we walk under the row of Imperial Palms, a symbol of the garden. We also explore the ponds where Victoria Regias, a species of water lily native to the Amazon region, bloom. You`ll visit the orchid greenhouse, which displays more than 500 species. Along the way, you`ll see trees such as the Pau Brasil, an emblematic and endangered species. This area is part of the Atlantic Forest and was reforested in the 19th century to protect the springs that supplied water to the city. This structure combines Asian and Brazilian influences for views of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Guanabara Bay. Along the way through the jungle, it`s common to spot monkeys, exotic birds, and, with a bit of luck, sloths. Our guide will help us find them and explain the wildlife that inhabits this unique ecosystem. To conclude the tour, we will make a brief visit to Pepino Beach. This spot is known as the landing point for hang-gliding flights departing from Pedra Bonita. The relaxing view of the ocean and the paragliders` descent are unique images from this vantage point.
