Celebrating my birthday on our honeymoon with this Manaus–Belém boat trip was wonderfully low-key and memorable. We expected basic transport, but our private cabin had two bunks, fresh sheets, a fan, and enough room for our backpacks; the hammock deck was surprisingly comfortable for lazy river-watching. Meals were simple but filling, and the crew kept everything tidy, even after a rainy night. The Amazon views were priceless, yet the fare felt fair compared with arranging separate transfers and hotels. A small birthday cake at dinner was an unexpected touch. Depois de uma viagem de negócios, aproveitei nosso aniversário para fazer esse trajeto de Manaus a Belém. A bordo, tivemos navegação pelo Rio Amazonas, parada no Encontro das Águas, observação do nascer do sol, visita a uma comunidade ribeirinha, banho de rio e refeições regionais servidas. O guia explicou costumes locais com humor e rolou uma roda de música no convés. Für unsere Geburtstagsreise zu unserem 70. Geburtstag haben wir die Bootsfahrt von Manaus nach Belém gebucht – überraschend gut organisiert und ihr Geld wert. Die Abfahrt um 18:00 erfolgte pünktlich; Gepäckmarken und eine kurze Sicherheitseinweisung waren bereits vorbereitet. Unsere einfache, aber saubere Kabine hatte Moskitonetz und genügend Stauraum. Die Mahlzeiten mit Fisch, Reis und frischem Obst schmeckten besser als erwartet. Beim Zwischenstopp in Santarém lief alles ruhig. Für diesen Preis bekamen wir echte Amazonasatmosphäre statt bloß Transport. Die Crew gratulierte morgens sogar mit Kaffee und Kuchen.

Pour fêter nos 70 ans, ma femme et moi avons embarqué à Manaus jusqu’à Belém. Le bateau était confortable et notre petit groupe, seulement douze personnes, a créé une ambiance simple et joyeuse. On a longé des rives couvertes de forêt, croisé des pirogues et observé le fameux Encontro das Águas. Les couchers de soleil sur l’Amazone étaient incroyables, surtout près de Santarém, avec le ciel orange reflété dans l’eau. Un guide nous a même montré un paresseux dans un arbre. Excellent souvenir d’anniversaire, sans foule ni stress.
