Tour Description
Once you're picked up from your hotel in central Rosario, we'll embark on our journey to San Nicolás, nestled along the Paraná River. Situated two hours from Buenos Aires and merely thirty minutes from Rosario, our arrival in San Nicolás will be marked by our guide's insights into how the Nicoleño landscape has been shaped by the steel industry over the past five decades. Prior to this transformation, San Nicolás was primarily known for its "material" character.
Beginning in 1984, a series of apparitions of the Virgin Mary of the Rosary sparked a religious movement that has since become a defining feature of the city. Each year on September 25th, hundreds of thousands of devotees gather at the Shrine of Our Lady.
Our tour will commence with a circuit exploring churches and religious art, featuring various chapels, parishes, churches, and sanctuaries.
We will visit the Casa del Acuerdo, constructed in 1831, which currently operates as a museum and includes an adjacent library. In this historic house, representatives from the provinces, summoned by General Urquiza, signed the pact in May 1852 that laid the foundation for the Argentine Constitution.
We'll also pass by the Rafael de Aguiar Municipal Theater, affectionately known as the "Little Colon." Since its opening in 1908, it has been a memorable destination for music and performing arts enthusiasts.
As we continue our tour, we'll visit an art gallery showcasing exhibitions and a variety of artistic activities.
Next, we'll proceed to the Cathedral of San Nicolás, where since 1983, a multitude of pilgrims from around the world gather annually at the Sanctuary of Maria del Rosario. The Marian phenomenon is commemorated on September 25, but a procession with the Image of the Virgin occurs on the 25th of every month.
Around midday, we'll pause for lunch at one of the local restaurants in central San Nicolás (lunch not included).
After completing the circuit, we'll return to the hotels in downtown Rosario.
