Descripción del Tour
10:30 am: We will gather at the Tangol Office, situated in the charming neighborhood of San Telmo, to embark on our visit to the San Pedro Telmo Antiques Fair. Since its inception in 1970, this Fair has become a Sunday tradition at the Plaza Dorrego and Defensa Street, with the streets turning pedestrian-friendly for this grand event. Attracting over 10,000 visitors, many of whom are tourists, the Fair boasts 270 sales positions. Here, you can discover a range of items from furniture and regional crafts to antiques, clothing, and leather goods. We will enjoy live tango orchestras with dancers, living statues, and other captivating street performances. The blend of antiques and cultural significance makes this Fair a must-visit destination.
We will also explore the San Telmo Market, perfect for purchasing souvenirs with its unique and original offerings.
12:30 pm: After soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of the San Telmo Fair, we will head southwest of Buenos Aires to the celebrated Mataderos Fair. Established 30 years ago, this Fair is a true celebration of "Gaucha Culture." It features three main areas and a food court: Traditional Crafts, Artistic Festival, and Gaucho Skills, offering a variety of activities such as workshops, talks, and exhibitions.
With over 300 artisan-run posts, the Fair offers an array of folk products including traditional items like mates, llama or alpaca ponchos, blankets, and leather and silver goods.
We will have free time to visit the "Criollo Museum of the Corrales". This rural museum provides insight into the life of gauchos in the pampas, showcasing their clothing, tools, and everyday objects. It also highlights Argentina's development into a world leader in the meat industry. View items like weapons, knives, vehicles, animals, and country paintings. (Note: This activity is optional, and museum admission is not included in the tour package.)
As you explore the Fair, you'll encounter numerous grills serving mouthwatering meats and other typical dishes. Take this opportunity to enjoy lunch with some delicious empanadas and a beverage, included in the tour.
Continue browsing the craft stands, where you'll find accessories, everyday objects, and musical instruments. Both products and regional foods like jams, liqueurs, alfajores, and cheeses are available at prices much lower than in other parts of Buenos Aires.
The culinary delights and crafts at the Mataderos Fair are beautifully complemented by the music and folkloric dances. The Fair is renowned for its Art festivals and demonstrations of gaucho skills. On special occasions, you might even witness horse races or participate in tango lessons!
05:00 pm: After spending approximately three hours at the Mataderos Fair, we'll conclude this wonderful day by returning to the Tangol Office in San Telmo.
