Frequently Asked Questions
Ski equipment rental for a snow excursion typically includes skis, boots, poles, and a helmet (recommended/required depending on the ski resort). In many Andean destinations, snowboarding with boots is also offered as an alternative. Sizes are usually available for adults and children, with professional binding fitting and a technical inspection for added safety on the slopes. Accessories such as goggles, gloves, or thermal clothing can be rented or purchased separately. Equipment is delivered tuned and sanitized, and sizes can be exchanged if they don't fit, subject to availability. Check if the rental package includes ski storage or lockers and assistance at the ski resort.
For a safe and comfortable ski trip, please share your height, weight, shoe size, and skill level. Beginners typically use shorter, more flexible skis (all-mountain or carving), which are easier to control. Intermediate/advanced skiers can choose longer or piste/freeride-specific skis. The DIN setting of the bindings is calibrated to your profile to minimize risks. Boots should fit snugly without causing pain; wear technical socks. For snowboarding, specify your stance (regular/goofy) and board type. Ask for advice in the shop: you can try on, adjust, or exchange sizes if needed. For children, prioritize comfort and a helmet. Booking in advance guarantees availability during peak season.
The usual practice in winter tourism is to pick up your equipment at a shop near the ski resort or at your destination (Patagonia/Andes), presenting your ID and voucher. Some companies allow you to pick it up the afternoon before to avoid lines, subject to their opening hours. Returns are usually made on the last day before the shop closes; late fees apply. Many shops offer delivery/hotel pickup for an additional fee. Ask about ski storage at the base and about quick exchanges in case of size or weather issues. Recommendation: Arrive early on your first day, check the weather conditions, and confirm the security deposit policy and accepted payment methods.
Ski equipment rental prices vary depending on the season (high/low), the number of days rented, and the rental category (basic, premium, performance). Discounts are often available for advance online bookings, groups, families, and multi-day packages. Many companies offer damage/theft insurance with a deductible; check what it covers (breakage, loss, theft) and any exclusions for negligence. A refundable deposit may be required. Date changes and upgrades are subject to availability. Cancellation policies are usually flexible with advance notice; check refund deadlines and procedures in case of ski resort closures or bad weather. Credit cards are accepted, and sometimes cash; request an invoice and confirm that taxes are included.
To optimize your experience at the ski resort, pack thermal underwear, a waterproof/breathable jacket and pants, gloves, technical socks, a buff or neck warmer, UV-protective goggles, sunscreen, and lip balm. Stay hydrated, pack energy snacks, and consider lessons with an instructor if it's your first time. Check the forecast, book in advance, and arrive early for equipment fitting. Always wear a helmet. Bring cash or a card for your lift pass, lockers, and any other expenses. If you're traveling with children, take frequent breaks. Inquire about transportation to the mountain and meeting points. Respect trail markings and verify your travel insurance coverage.
