Tour Description

Day 1: Uros Islands and Amantani Island

We will begin by picking you up from your hotel in the city of Puno. Our transport will then take you to the Puno port, where our professional kayak team will be waiting to start your 2-day adventure on the stunning Lake Titicaca.

Lake Titicaca lies at an altitude of 3,800 meters, making it the highest navigable lake in the world. The kayaking experience takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, allowing you to soak in the beauty of Puno bay and the captivating surrounding flora and fauna.

Our first stop is at the floating islands of Uros, a remarkable collection of handcrafted artificial islands situated in the high-altitude Andes. These islands are home to the indigenous Uro community, who have been constructing and living on these floating platforms for generations.

The islands are primarily composed of totora, an aquatic plant that flourishes in the lake. The Uros people use these plants to build the islands, their homes, boats, and various essential items.

Following our visit to the Uros Islands, we'll continue by regular boat to Amantani Island. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed into your host family's house for the night. Enjoy a traditional Andean lunch featuring quinoa soup, lake fish, and warming coca tea.

Amantani is a favored destination for travelers keen to immerse themselves in local community life. The island's population is predominantly of indigenous Quechua descent, and they proudly maintain many ancestral traditions.

The island provides a panoramic view of Lake Titicaca and its surrounding mountains, offering a peaceful and picturesque setting to explore. A must-visit is Pachatata, a hilltop viewpoint with breathtaking views of the lake and its surroundings.

In the evening, enjoy a dinner followed by a lively local party organized by the community.

Day 2: Taquile Island and Return to Puno

Begin your day with an early breakfast before we depart to Taquile Island by regular boat. The scenic journey across Lake Titicaca takes about an hour.

Upon arriving on the island, stroll to the quaint and charming main square. Here, you can choose to visit the local museum (optional) or explore the exquisite textile shops.

Taquile Island is celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes. The indigenous community has preserved their ancestral customs and sustainable lifestyle. The Taquile people are renowned for their exceptional skills in crafting high-quality textiles, which are considered cultural treasures.

The local artisans are master weavers, creating textiles by hand using age-old techniques. These textiles are both artistic and cultural artifacts, featuring designs and colors that represent the Andean Cosmo vision and community history. Each piece narrates a story and conveys the wearer's social status, gender, and identity.

Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before taking the regular boat back to the Puno port. Our transport will then return you to your hotel.
