Tour Description
We will embark on our journey from your hotel in the city of Puno towards the departure point at the Lake Titicaca shore. Before setting off, we will don our life jackets and safely board the kayaks.
As we paddle across the expansive lake, we will take in the stunning flora and fauna that surround us. This area, within the Titicaca National Reserve, is home to a variety of birds including wild ducks, herons, and flamingos, as well as species of frogs and fish that form part of the local diet.
Lake Titicaca sits at an impressive altitude of 3,812 meters above sea level and is the second largest lake in South America.
The kayak tour on Lake Titicaca will take us close to the rocky Isla Foroba, eventually reaching the remarkable Uros floating islands. Here, we will explore these fascinating totora reed islands and learn about the customs and lifestyles of the local community.
The Uros people are an ancient community primarily engaged in fishing, farming, and tourism throughout the year. These unique islands are constructed from totora reeds. While Spanish is spoken, the official language here is Aymara.
Following this extraordinary experience, you have the option to take a motorboat to the Island of Taquile. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Amantani Island, the largest island on the Peruvian side.
Upon arrival, the Taquile community will warmly welcome us. You'll have the opportunity to learn about their lifestyle and admire their incredible textile arts, which are considered cultural heritage. The locals continue to use traditional weaving techniques and natural dyes derived from plants.
Savor a traditional lunch with a local family. As this unforgettable experience comes to a close, you'll board the boat to return to the starting point and be transported back to your hotel in the city of Puno.
