Tour Description
The tour commences with a pick-up from your hotel in Paracas, setting the stage for an exploration of the reserve situated in the department of Ica, within the province of Pisco. The Ica region is renowned for its sunny climate and numerous tourist attractions, including the Nazca Lines and archaeological sites linked to the Paracas culture.
Along the Peruvian coast, a diverse range of marine species can be found, including the striking Humboldt penguin. This remarkable bird resides chiefly in the area around the Ballestas Islands. Established as a protected area since 1975, it boasts spectacular wildlife, thanks to the cold Humboldt ocean current.
Stopping at the Supay beach viewpoint is essential. Here, you can relish stunning views of the coast and its cliffs. The landscape offers an incredible spectacle, where the vast desert meets the vibrant sea, accompanied by birds soaring overhead—a true natural marvel.
Following a brief walk, we will arrive at the rock formation known as the Cathedral, designated a World Heritage Site. This site suffered damage from a severe earthquake in 2007. The local flora and fauna are extraordinary, home to mammals, reptiles, and birds, including sea lions, otters, and dolphins.
We will continue along the picturesque coast, searching for stunning beaches like the Red Beach, where the reddish sand is a testament to ancient volcanic eruptions, making it one of the world's most unique locations. We will also explore Yumaque Beach, a beautiful crescent-shaped cove where seagulls and dolphins can often be spotted.
The tour of the reserve proceeds to the flamingos' viewpoint, where migratory birds can be observed seasonally. We will then visit the Interpretation Room to gain insights into the reserve's significance, history, and local flora and fauna. Additionally, we will have the chance to admire marine fossils discovered in the area.
The final stop will be at Lagunillas Beach, a charming fishing bay where you can savor a delicious and fresh Ceviche (optional). This dish is one of the most important Peruvian culinary delights, featuring raw fish marinated in lemon juice.
At the conclusion of this unforgettable tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Paracas.
