Tour Description

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN IQUITOS
In the early hours, we will meet you at the Iquitos airport or your centrally located hotel in the city. Our transportation will take us on a two-hour drive to the port of Nauta. From there, we will embark on a one-hour boat journey to a charming lodge located within the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Reserve, along the banks of the Yanayacu River.

This reserve is situated in the Loreto region, near the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. After settling into the eco-lodge, a buffet lunch crafted from fresh, organic regional ingredients awaits you.

Your adventure in the jungle kicks off with a sighting of the world’s tiniest monkey, the Pygmy Marmoset, also known as the "Mono Leoncito." We will explore the lodge’s botanical garden, discovering various medicinal plants and learning about composting.

Dinner will be served at the lodge, followed by an exhilarating nighttime boat trip as we search for caimans, nocturnal mammals, and birds.

DAY 2: EXPLORING THE AMAZON RAINFOREST
Following a hearty breakfast, we will set out on a boat exploration along the Amazon River, where you can refresh with a swim. We'll also be on the lookout for the renowned pink and gray river dolphins, often seen in this area.

During the journey, you will have the chance to see the world’s largest aquatic plant, the Victoria Regia. Additionally, we'll observe stunning iguanas in their natural setting. Around midday, we will return to the lodge to savor a buffet featuring both local and international dishes.

In the afternoon, we will engage in piranha fishing using traditional rods—a thrilling experience for all ages! Afterwards, we will enjoy a breathtaking sunset over Sapote Lagoon.

Upon our return to the lodge, a delicious dinner will await us. Later, we will embark on a nighttime jungle walk to spot giant frogs and tarantulas.

DAY 3: BIRDWATCHING & INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY VISIT
At dawn, we will start our bird-watching experience, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the rainforest.

Post-breakfast, we will embark on a boat journey through the incredible Amazon jungle, navigating lagoons and creeks upriver. This offers another opportunity to spot various bird species and monkeys.

The Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Regional Conservation Area is a protected natural reserve in Loreto. We will visit the San Juan de Yanayacu Community to learn about their customs and traditions. During the high-water season, this indigenous village adapts by living in floating houses and using canoes as their primary mode of transportation.

We will return to the lodge for lunch and some well-deserved relaxation.

In the afternoon, the adventure continues in search of a prehistoric-looking bird known as the Hoatzin or "Shansho," a fascinating tropical bird inhabiting the Amazon River swamps. After this unique experience, we will return to our beautiful eco-lodge, nestled in the heart of the Peruvian jungle, to enjoy a delightful dinner.

At night, we will embark on our final canoe excursion to immerse ourselves in the mesmerizing nighttime sounds of the jungle.

DAY 4: RIVER EXCURSION & CONCLUSION OF THE JOURNEY
We will start our final day with a delicious breakfast.
