Strolling along Sixth Street, we make our way to the iconic Main Square, where 191 years of history come to life. In the very heart of Salento, we delve into the park's symbols, from busts and plaques to the unique forms that define this remarkable place.
Our exploration continues along the royal street, discovering havens cherished by locals, away from the usual tourist paths. On this route, we delve into traditional games, myths, legends, and the diverse elements that comprise Salento's rich architectural heritage.
Upon reaching the steps to the Alto de la Cruz viewpoint, we pause at one of the town's oldest homes and architectural landmarks. As we ascend, we uncover Salento's religious history, focusing on the devotion to the Virgin of Carmen, and learn about the projects that led to the creation of these iconic steps.
Atop Alto de la Cruz, we take in a breathtaking panoramic view of Salento, with the majestic church visible in the distance, a sight that has enchanted countless visitors. We then head down to the "Ecoparque Mirador," where we admire the Cocora Valley, the habitat of the national tree: the Wax Palm.
We commence our descent along Fourth Avenue, making our way to the Photographic Museum, where images captured by local residents showcase Salento's evolution and transformation through the years. This museum provides a distinctive viewpoint, connecting us with history through photographs that narrate the town's past tales.
