Tour Of The Towns Of Quindío: Córdoba, Pijao And Buenavista
Quindío has municipalities that most travelers never get to see. This tour visits three of them— Córdoba, Pijao, and Buenavista —in a single day, with a bilingual guide and a small group. Three towns with their own distinct identity , wattle and daub architecture, a coffee-growing history, and a pace of life that contrasts sharply with the more crowded destinations in the region.
A typical lunch is included, the Willys Jeep is optional, and the entire day is taken care of. A six-hour tour connecting the three towns and revealing a side of the Coffee Region that few travelers ever get to see.
Tour Description
The tour begins with hotel pickup at the agreed-upon meeting point, followed by a transfer to southern Quindío. The first stop is Córdoba, one of Quindío`s lesser-known towns , known as the national capital of guadua bamboo and home to the National Center for the Study of Guadua Bamboo. Over 65% of the municipality`s territory is coffee-growing, and this history is reflected in its architecture, its main square, and the way its inhabitants speak of the region. The visit begins with a typical snack before exploring the town.
The second stop is Pijao , a destination that most surprises first-time visitors. This small town was the first in Latin America to join the Cittaslow Colombia network, which promotes slow, conscious, and environmentally respectful tourism . Walking its streets is to understand this philosophy better than any description: a unique rhythm, intact traditional architecture, and a community life that has resisted the onslaught of rural tourism in the Coffee Region .
Buenavista marks the end of the tour. Known as the Quindío Lookout and the Quindío Window for its panoramic views of the department and part of the Cauca Valley, it`s a destination with a strong coffee-growing identity and one of Quindío`s heritage towns with the most distinctive character. The visit includes a coffee shop where the entire process behind the product is visible: from bean to packaging, with context and a tasting.
The tour ends with a typical lunch included before the transfer back to the pick-up point, approximately six hours after the start.
