We invite you to explore a lesser-known side of Ushuaia with our Trekking to Vinciguerra Glacier excursion. This adventure will guide you through an area away from the typical tourist paths, yet offers remarkable allure. Our journey includes visits to the Vinciguerra Glacier, the Laguna de los Témpanos, and the Andorra Valley, all led by skilled bilingual guides.
The tour is available in either shared or private options and comes with a Lunch Box.
Descripción del Tour
Starting at 08:00, we will pick up our guests from their hotels to embark on a journey to the Andorra Valley, where numerous locals have settled, creating one of Ushuaia's unique spontaneous urban developments.
By 08:30 a.m., after disembarking from the vehicle, the adventure continues along a melting river that traverses the peat bog enveloping the valley. This terrain is wet and slippery throughout much of the walk, making suitable footwear essential.
Upon entering the forest, the climb is continuous, starting with a steep section that eases closer to the vegetation line at approximately 600 meters above sea level. We will reach this point around 10:30 a.m. Beyond the tree line, hikers are rewarded with views of the dramatic peaks of the surrounding mountains framing the valley from which we departed.
At 11:30 a.m., the ascent persists along a stream nourished by a glacial lagoon, once the site where the Vinciguerra glacier calved icebergs. Although the glacier has now receded several dozen meters from the lagoon, it remains fascinating due to the caves that have formed and the enchanting atmosphere that endures in this area of breathtaking vistas.
By around 12:30 p.m., we will arrive at the glacier's base, where we will enjoy our lunch. An hour later, we will begin our descent, aiming to reach our vehicles by 4:00 p.m. and return to the hotels in Ushuaia.
