* Itinerary 1: Las Queñuas 4 days/3 nights
(Includes 1 night in a mountain lodge + 2 nights at Posada las Queñuas + full board)
- Departures occur on the first Thursday of each month and during long weekends. Total distance covered: 50 km.
Day 1: Siambón - Anfama
A transport service will pick us up from the hotels in San Miguel de Tucumán starting at 7:45 am. We will head approximately 60 km north, reaching El Siambón around 9:00 am. Here, we will be introduced to our horses and briefed on the 7-hour journey ahead.
Our trek will take us through the Rio Grande gorge, showcasing the diverse vegetation of the jungle, culminating at the Anfama summits. We'll pause for lunch and relish the stunning scenery.
By afternoon, we’ll continue to the Rasguido family post, where we’ll be welcomed with the warmth typical of mountain folk. Dinner and overnight stay await us here as we prepare for the next day's journey.
Day 2: Anfama - Las Queñuas
Around 9:00 am, we’ll set off for San José de Chaquivil, navigating through deep streams and rivers. Along the way, we’ll encounter indigenous remnants like the pirca corrals and menhirs, with landscapes that are nothing short of diverse.
After covering 8 kilometers, we’ll arrive at the renowned Las Queñuas inn, constructed with local materials such as adobe, stone, and straw, sitting on the ancient ranch foundations. Lunch will be ready upon our arrival.
The afternoon offers time to unwind, explore, and learn about the Las Queñuas Reserve project. We’ll enjoy dinner and stay overnight here.
Day 3: Las Queñuas
After breakfast at the Posada, we’ll explore the reserve on horseback or on foot, visiting landmarks like the old Don Eusebio post and the Guanacos table at 3,100 meters, beneath Cerro Negrito, where we might spot condors soaring.
The afternoon is free for relaxation and soaking in the serenity of Las Queñuas. Dinner will feature a delicious lamb or barbecue by a cozy bonfire.
Day 4: Las Queñuas - Raco
Breakfast begins at 8:00 am, followed by preparation for our ride to Raco (1,200 m above sea level). We’ll traverse the “Camino de las Cumbres de Raco,” reaching 2,200 meters, passing through “La Hoyada,” nestled between two rivers.
We’ll stop for lunch en route. Once in Raco, we’ll bid farewell to the horses and hills before a transport returns us to San Miguel de Tucumán, arriving at our accommodation around 6:30 pm.

Post-breakfast, we’ll set out early for La Cienega valley, positioned at 2,600 meters above sea level. Ascending via the "slope of La Ramadita," the trail skirts Cerro Negrito’s slopes to reach La Ciénega Valley, featuring lush ravines, wild meadows, and a high valley maintained by sheep.
We’ll pause for lunch and snacks throughout the day.
By late afternoon, after a 17-kilometer trek, we arrive at a quaint family spot, ready for relaxation and a warm dinner.
Day 4: La Cienega - Tafí del Valle
The morning marks the start of the final, demanding segment toward Tafí del Valle, at 2,000 meters above sea level. En route, we’ll observe ancient corrals and the ruins of "antigales," remnants of indigenous settlements.
Before reaching Tafí del Valle, we will take time to admire the sweeping valley views, including the La Angostura Dam and the summer villages of Tafí and El Mollar.
Upon reaching the hill's base, lunch will be ready. Following the meal, a vehicle will transport us back to San Miguel de Tucumán, traversing various landscapes and witnessing natural contrasts, reaching our accommodation around 6:30 pm.
