The excursion kicks off with a hotel transfer in Salta at 07:00 AM.
Guided by knowledgeable local experts, we journey to the Quebrada de Humahuaca region. Our first stop is in Purmamarca, where we'll admire the Cerro de los Siete Colores, explore the local Church, and browse the Artisan Market in the town square. We then proceed past Horn Post, making our way to Tilcara to discover Pucará and the Archaeological Museum.
Our next destination is Huacalera, where we cross the Tropic of Capricorn and enjoy views of the vibrant Pollera de la Colla Hill. We also visit the Church of Uquía, renowned for its paintings of the Angels Arcabuceros, a significant example of Cuzco-style art. Upon arriving in Humahuaca, we'll explore its notable Cathedral and the Monument to Independence (El Indio), crafted by the sculptor Soto Avendaño.
Continuing our adventure, we travel through Iturbe and Abra del Cóndor, situated at an elevation of 3900 meters above sea level. Here, we reach the entrance of a petite gorge leading to Iruya, a quaint village with pre-Hispanic roots. We will spend the night in Iruya (accommodation not included) and begin our return journey to Salta the following day, stopping in San Salvador de Jujuy along the way.
We conclude our tour, arriving back at our hotels in Salta in the afternoon.
