Descripción del Tour
Our walking tour kicks off at our office set in the vibrant heart of San Telmo, one of Buenos Aires' oldest and most culturally rich neighborhoods. Known for its lively tango and arts scene, we'll head south on Defensa Street to explore the antique markets and soak in the distinct architecture, including the iconic "faroles" public lighting, cobblestone streets, and historic buildings with period decorations.
Our journey leads us to Lezama Park, renowned for its tree-lined paths, amphitheater, and the scenic slope descending towards Martín García and Paseo Colón avenues.
Exiting the park, a short two-block walk will bring us to the southern tip of Puerto Madero. Here, we'll cross the dock and stroll along the city's modern waterfront, home to skyscrapers, upscale restaurants, and luxury hotels. We'll reach the Puente de la Mujer (Women's Bridge), a striking rotating bridge crafted by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, symbolizing a couple dancing tango.
After crossing the bridge, we'll continue our walk along the opposite shore to Belgrano Avenue. We'll then turn onto Paseo Colón Avenue, and after three blocks, find ourselves at the historic Plaza de Mayo. Here, we'll visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and admire the Cabildo and Casa Rosada, the executive branch's headquarters. Our guide will share insights into the many historical and social events that have unfolded here.
On the opposite side of the square, we'll embark on Diagonal Norte, a significant city artery linking the Supreme Court and Casa Rosada. We'll arrive at the iconic Obelisco de Buenos Aires, a city landmark situated at the heart of Avenida 9 de Julio, renowned as the world's widest avenue.
Crossing this grand avenue, we'll continue our walk for two more blocks to reach the renowned Colon Theater. This opera house is celebrated as one of the top five globally for its size, acoustics, and rich history.
For those opting to visit the Colon Theater, our tour culminates with an exclusive guided exploration within this magnificent venue. We'll join our guide and a small group of visitors to discover the Auditorium, the Main Foyer, the Busts Gallery, and the Golden Hall, marveling at the intricate architectural details, sculptures, ceilings, and stained glass. After an enlightening 50-minute tour, we'll conclude at the theater's entrance.
Alternatively, if you select the MALBA option, we'll hop on a bus to the Palermo neighborhood, home to the MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires). Established in September 2001, this museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, studying, and showcasing Latin American art from the early 20th century to today. It features around 400 works by the region's leading modern and contemporary artists. The tour wraps up with your museum entry, allowing you to explore at your leisure and fully appreciate each room and exhibition.
For those choosing the combined tour, you'll experience the Colon Theater's grandeur before heading with your guide to the MALBA. After receiving your museum ticket, the tour concludes at this cultural haven.
