Tour Description

We embark on our journey from Villa Antofagasta, traveling along Route RP43 in our van.
Our initial destination is Paicuqui, an excellent stop to capture stunning landscape photos. Paicuqui is a quaint town characterized by its sparse vegetation and grasslands, boasting a viewpoint over 3,500 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of Antofagasta de la Sierra.
As we proceed, we trace the path of the Trapiche River. With a bit of luck, we might spot vicuñas, llamas, partridges, trout, and parinas as we travel.
Next, we visit the Salar Hombre Muerto viewpoint. Situated at 4,000 meters above sea level, this expansive salt flat covers 588 square kilometers and is renowned for its lithium deposits. Its name originates from a grave discovered in the early 20th century. From this vantage point, we can admire the salt flat's vastness and hear from our guide about its ecological and economic significance.
On our return, we explore the Incahuasi mine, which consists of two sections that we will explore. This site is steeped in history, having been mined by the Incas and later by the Jesuits. It is regarded as one of the most well-preserved remains from the Hispano-Indigenous era in the Argentine Puna.
Before concluding our tour, we pause at the Laguna del Caro lookout point, a perfect spot for a final photo session.
We then continue along Route RP43, making our way back to Antofagasta.
